Following a successful event in June 2022 for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the organisers of the Eastbourne Carnival have announced the theme ‘Sussex By The Sea’ and opened the registration for Carnival 2023.
Eastbourne Carnival will be on Saturday May 27 at 2pm.
This year, the procession will begin at Fisherman’s Green and end at the Wish Tower slopes. The fun continues with a street party in Victoria Place from 4:30 – 6:30pm (approximate times).
Changing the route means participants and the public can enjoy the town centre after the Carnival, with the focus on the street party. This also makes the event more accessible as the route is slightly shorter than in recent years.
A smaller procession will start at midday from the Enterprise Centre to Victoria Place
with the main event starting at its traditional time of 2pm.
Eastbourne Carnival is delighted to welcome back headline sponsor Lightning Fibre. This is their second year as our main sponsor and we are hugely grateful for their continued support.
We are also delighted to have the Birchwood Group and the Enterprise Centre sponsoring the carnival for another year. Thank you!
Also supporting this year’s event are Media Attention, Bourne Free & Custard Print, Seahaven FM, The Best of Eastbourne and Elite Medical & Ambulance Services Ltd.
Registration is now open for entrants, volunteers, and sponsors. The theme is ‘Sussex By The Sea’ and entrants are encouraged to get creative and feature what they love about Sussex.
Entrants will be supported with costume-making and dance workshops once again provided by Cotton Candy and Cherry Dance.
Mina O’Brien, Chair of Eastbourne Carnival said: “Last year, our entrants did a superb job of putting on a great Carnival for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee – and we are very excited to see what the community brings to Carnival this year with the new theme. Registration of entrants has already begun, and we invite anyone wishing to participate to do so via the website.”
